My name is Norm Coon, and I have been a player in well over 1000+ Fast Pitch softball games (50+ regional final games; 75+ state final games - 50+ as a player/manager) with experience at (7) different positions throughout my (23) year playing career. I am still playing currently in competitive M.A.S.A. Men's Fast Pitch Softball games and tournaments within the State of Michigan.I have also assisted at many Fast Pitch Softball clinics as: hitting, baserunning, infield, outfield, and fielding/throwing instructor.
Personally, after many years in the game of Fast Pitch Softball, I found that I really love the challenge of teaching the ART of hitting specifically.
I really enjoy, and have a natural ability for, analyzing and diagnosing hitters’ bunts/swings QUICKLY, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate to the student the concepts and issues that need to be addressed for improvement.
I will breakdown the basic mechanics of hitting step-by-step in a way which can be easily understood by each student, and discuss philosophies that may be beneficial to them in many different hitting situations. I will also develop/implement an individualized plan towards making the necessary improvements concerning the student’s hitting and bunting techniques.
I have had the unique perspective of personally having seen a LOT of quality pitching in all types of crucial game situations from the batter’s box over my years of playing. I feel I can also help the student by sharing some of my more successfully implemented game-used strategies, adjustments and overall mental approaches to hitting.
It is through this type of individual instruction and the sharing of my personal on-field game experiences that I feel I can help more kids reach their ultimate Fast Pitch Softball hitting potential than through just team coaching alone.
